Allan Cohen grew up in Orlando, Florida. His desire to become a veterinarian grew from a lifelong love of animals. With encouragement and support from his parents, Dr. Cohen graduated with honors from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in animal science in 1976. He then went to the Philippines and earned his degree as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
After Dr. Cohen’s schooling was completed he gained experience in a surgery and opthalmology practice working under Dr. Bill Jackson in Lakeland, Florida. Dr. Cohen also worked with Dr. Norman Pinfold’s general veterinary practice in Tarpon Springs, Florida for a year before opening his own practice in Deltona with his wife, Chris, in 1986.
Dr. Cohen finds great pleasure in nurturing family relationships and encouraging companionship between people and their pets. He feels deeply that pets are invaluable emotionally to their owners and greatly enrich our lives.
Dr. Cohen’s hobbies include restoring and driving his family car from 1968, a Pontiac GTO. He also enjoys his 3 aquariums and Koi pond at home. Dr. Cohen’s pets include 2 Chihuahuas, a Papillon, and two beautiful domestic cats.
